History of Newton
Newton is a village in the Rushcliffe district of Nottinghamshire, located south of Bingham. The name derives from the Old English 'niwe-tun', simply meaning 'new farmstead'. There are several places called Newton across England, reflecting how common this name was for new settlements in Anglo-Saxon times.
